The Union Berlin football team secured their first win in the Bundesliga season with a 2-1 victory over VfL Bochum at the Olympiastadion on Saturday evening.
The match saw both teams playing well, but it was Union who came out on top thanks to two goals from Stefan Savićević. The first goal was scored in the 45th minute when he beat his marker and fired home after a cross by Benjamin Kudoh.
However, it was Savićević's second goal that sealed the deal for Union. In the 77th minute, he took a pass from Kevin Trapp and unleashed a powerful shot which found its way into the bottom corner of the net. It was a fantastic strike and it put Union ahead with a 2-0 lead.
Bochum were not giving up though as they continued to push forward for an equalizer. However, it was Union who held firm and were able to see out the game to secure their first win of the season.
For Union, this result is a huge boost to their relegation hopes. With only six points from their opening nine games, they find themselves just three points above the drop zone. However, with a win against Werder Bremen next weekend, they could still have a fighting chance of staying in the league.
Overall, it was a solid performance from Union Berlin against a strong opponent. They showed great resilience and determination throughout the game and will be hoping to build on this success going forward.
