Villarreal have secured their first victory under new coach Quique Setién with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Valladolid on Sunday afternoon.
Setién took charge of the La Liga side in mid-November and his first game in charge ended in defeat at Real Sociedad, but he has since guided them to two wins from three games.
The first goal came early in the second half when Villarreal forward Paco Alcacer headed home from a corner to give the visitors the lead.
However, Valladolid fought back and levelled the score with just minutes remaining through a header from Diego Suárez.
Setién's men then hit back immediately, though, with substitute Samuel Chicharito scoring a stunning free-kick to seal the win for the home side.
It was a much-needed victory for the Spanish club, who had lost their previous four matches and were struggling in the league table.
Setién's appointment as Villarreal manager was met with some skepticism, given that he is relatively unknown outside of Spain, but his performances so far suggest that he may be the right man for the job.
He has brought a fresh approach to the team, with his players playing more attacking football and taking more risks on attack.
